Superintendent of Freedmen's Schools.
Dear Sir,
In my report of last month I requested you to send me some books, One doz Primers, half doz second & third Readers, half doz Primary Arithmetics, one doz Copy books, half doz Slates and Pencils, and one doz Primary Geographies. If you will send me the above named books, you will greatly oblige me, for I stand very much in need of them. The people are very anxious for me to continue school through the months of July and August, not giving more than two weeks vacation; if it will meet with your approbation I am willing so to do. I have now forty five day scholars with a prospect of an increase. I think the way my school is increasing, I am entitled to forty dollars a month. There are very few can pay me by the month, for the reason that they will have no money until their Crops are made, they seem to be very much pleased that the school has been established and I think will be good for the money
