Dear Mr. Hartford,

The picture by Frans Hals which I mentioned to you has been sent to the Amsterdam exhibition, and therefore, I can not show it to you. However, I might have it in New York this winter.

I am sending you herewith the photograph of a very fine and important painting by Terborgh.

Its size is 30" x 25".,

It has a certificat from Doctor Friedlander, and also one from Hofstede de Groot.

The colours are very beautiful. The lady is dressed in gray blue, the table is covered with a violet velvet. The servant is dressed in brownish-yellow.

This picture comes from the Hope Johnstone of Annamandale collection, and was exhibited in 1936 in Nimeguen.

This picture belongs to a collector outside of France, and he wants for it : $ 30.000.

I will call you up to-morrow to find out if by any chance you would like to see it. This picture was supposed to come to Paris some time in the future, but should you care to see it, I could have it sent over immediately.

As this is the only photograph I have, I would appreciate it if you would leave it at the desk of your hotel, where I will call for it in a day or two.

Kindly remember me to Mrs Hartford, and looking forward to seeing you soon.

Believe me to be,
Yours very sincerely,

Mr. H. Hartford,
Paris.
