Dear Mr. Harvard:

Congratulations are indeed in order for the sale you have just made of the Velazquez painting.

The one approach I had made so far, led nowhere, but there was another party I had in mind; but these are the chances we have to take in our business. And in thanking you for your letter of November 27th, I do want you to know that I appreciate your posting me of the outcome of your negotiations as you did.

I do hope, as you write, that we will be more successful on another occasion; and I certainly intend calling on you when I am next in London.
