Dear Mr. Hayden:

On December 1st the most important auction of the season, of
French 18th Century works of art, will take place in Paris, at the Georges
Petit Galleries.

It is the sale of Mr. George Blumenthal's collection, coming
from his Paris residence, which he gave up last year. As you undoubtedly
know, Mr. Blumenthal has been one of the outstanding collectors of works
of art for many years and he is likewise a Trustee of the Metropolitan
Museum.

Inasmuch as the greater part of this collection originally came
from our firm, we are in a position to give you any information you might
want about it. In view of present conditions there is a possibility that
there may be a number of bargains to be had at this sale and if you are at
all interested in any of the items, we would be pleased to let you see the
catalogue [[catalog]] and we could instruct our Paris house to bid in anything for you,
for which service we would charge no commission.

Awaiting, therefore, the pleasure of hearing from you, believe us to be

                                           Yours very truly,
                                      JACQUES SELIGMANN & COMPANY, Inc.
