My dear Mrs. Hickox:

Until the collapse of France I was at the head of our Paris branch. This being my first visit to New York, I am trying to see all the interesting collections.

At the very lovely exhibition held at Parke-Bernet I admired your Fragonard, besides which I have on another occasion seen your Mabuse "Man's Portrait". I am wondering therefore if you would permit me to call on you to pay my respects and have an opportunity to see your collection, as I feel certain you must own other interesting paintings.

I do hope you will have a few moments to spare for me and that I may have the privilege of meeting you.

Very sincerely yours,

(Georges E. Seligmann)
