Dear Mrs. Hickox:

No doubt you know that the much heralded collection of the late Mr. Mortimer Schiff will come up for auction at Christie's in London the end of June.

This collection contains works of art and paintings of such importance and quality as have not come on the market in a long time. I refer especially to a a few of the outstanding items such as the magnificent Roger van der Weyden, the Memling, the famous Bouchardon statue (the only one in America), the celebrated gouaches by Lavreince, etc., etc.

Within a few days we shall be in possession of catalogues and photographs, and should you be at all interested, I would be very glad to call on you to discuss this matter or, if your prefer, see you here at our galleries.

Mr. Séligmann and in all probability myself shall be in London at the time of the sale, and would gladly act on your behalf. Of course, no one can tell exactly at what prices these objects will sell, but it stands to reason that under present conditions one might make a most advantageous purchase.

I therefore, will take the liberty of phoning you in a few days as soon as I have the necessary data on hand.

In the meantime, I hope my lines find you well, and with my kindest personal regard to you and Mr. Hickox,

Believe me to be

Most sincerely,

(R.H. Waegen)
