This painting, previously attributed to Blanchard, in view of its affinity to the painting in the Nantes Museum, can now be definitely attributed to Charles Dauphin. This new attribution has been established by the discovery of an etching by Thourneysen of the Nantes work with the indication of Dauphin as painter. See phoxtostat of Pierre Lavallée's article in "Bulletin- Société de l'Histoire de l'Art Francais", Paris 1933, 1st fascicule, pp.145-149
