Dear Doris

This has been our first coldest morning the wind blew all day yesterday & a very black cloud came up which brought us this cold temperature sudden changes are hard to bear I pity men who have to be out in this weather its bad enough to sit beside a warm register. 10° above this morning at 9

We got your box Friday & presume mine arrived early in the week. we got so tired eating turkey we pretty near gobbled, so now we are eating a simpler food that doesn't last as long. last Sunday we had fried haddock & it tasted good but today its oyster stew. I dont care for much meat but want some. we are eating lamb this week but I get sick of eating it every day in the week.

I slept but little last night. the window rattled just enough to keep me awake so it was impossible to get much sleep. the room was cold. I dont know what I'd do without my hot stone it warms my bed. I often think of Alice way up
