Dear Doris

The weather here has turned a little cooler by the wind changing to the North West. the sun is very bright & our moon keeps bright all night, a little rain comes but not enough to do much good. the leaves are turning, tress are very beautiful, the ground is covered with fallen leaves which make it more dangerous for fires Oh! if we could only have a drenching rain. it will come in great torrence sometime probably.

I am glad the package got there all safe at the time it was needed. Mrs Barry did it up but she was afraid it was'nt [[wasn't]] stuffed right she did the best she could but it rattled in the case. I guess it did no harm, I hope the little dress fitted as she was not here to try it on. it was a little long, so I put in the tuck. she will grow to it no doubt. I got her letter she sent to say she was pleased with the dress. I have not begun on those winter dresses, I shall start them
