Stoughton June 29th 1941

Dear Doris

We are having hot days here over 90° but a promise of cooling showers today. we go without as little fire as possible which we make of wood & let it go out as soon as possible. shore places are visited now days although its much hotter than to stay at home but the water is the cooling object for them. I suppose Doris is having great times out of her camp vacation. Grace Dykeman came here yesterday after buttons (Arthurs girl) she was speaking about her Uncle Louie's death. she said his wife was an awful spendthrift & no housekeeper. they will have hard work to get rid of her Howard owns the house & will sell it I showed her that we hold a mortgage on it. she said we should get it before the house was sold. Leonard drew it up, it ought to be good. The money he should have given to Pa for his groceries he spent to buy a piano he had been drinking. they did'nt need that & Pa did
