not swear to them. This statement, however, Plaintiff had since emphatically denied, & says that he was persuaded by Mc Cord to let the matter rest.

In the matter of a complaint by Fannie Parker, freedwoman, vs. Jos. Moore, white, for an assault & Battery, he persuaded the Girl to drop the case.

On complaint being made by Alf. Ellis (col.), that Lee Russel — Town Marshal — had without cause, shot at him, with an expressed intent to kill him, the "difficulty" was "made up" before Mr Mc Cord.

Moses Scott (col.) having complained that Jack Dooley, white, had beaten his wife so badly as to lay her up, he was advised by Mr Mc Cord to endeavor to compromise it.

Presuming that the foregoing evidence will be sufficient, without going into fuller details —
