Whetsel I beg leave to state that I have already investigated the matter to the best of my ability. I have made, as I believe, an equitable division of the crop, made on his Place, by the Freedmen. That I have been governed by all the facts brought before me at the time I ordered the division, that Whetsel, did not at this time, in my presence, deny the Statements, of the Freedmen in any essential particular, that I found in his employ, a Prime lot of Hands, and that they made for him an extraordinary good Crop. That they commenced with him with Clothing, and Provisions sufficient to last them over half the year. That they worked faithfully is evident to me from the amount of Crop which they produced. That this man Whetsel aimed to defraud, them, out of the principle part they made during the year, is to me a demonstrated fact, and that I firmly believe that if positive right take place that the Freedmen who worked with him during the over
