IB 117 H
School Department, County of Beaufort.
Beaufort, S. C. Sept 1st, 1869,
Major:
The accompanying communication addressed to Gen. Howard thro' you will speak for itself. The building & frame therein spoken of is some five or six miles from Mr. Eustis' place and its usefulness will not in the least be affected by the school in the place of that gentleman, I beg you, therefore, to give my application for aid, if possible, your favorable endorsement.
Mr. Green is here and we are working together in the completion of his job. The work is progressing finely, & will, I think be completed in three weeks. I thank you for your favorable consideration of my wishes in reference to persons &c., and assure you that the old proverb that "beggars must not be choosers" prevented my expressing to you my preferences in this matter .
I am, Major,
Very Respectfully &c
L.S. Langley
School Commissioner
