as they could build a school house, worth at least 500.# upon a portion of their lot, which was to be conveyed to a Board of Trustees for school purposes forever.

They have contracted debts for lumber & labor upon the expectation of receiving the 500.# but up to the present date have not executed the conveyance before mentioned, which I required of them, this is the exact state of the cases. Had I known that there was any other method of procuring a lot. I would not have made an arrangement of the kind. I have known Miss Scofield for some years She is an excellent and worthy teacher. Could her plans be carried out they would undoubtedly be productive of lasting good but I do not, under the circumstances, feel warranted in making any recommendation for the diversion of the money already appropriated to the furtherances of her scheme.
