In accordance with your Instructions I send you the number of the Check issued by the 2nd Auditor on the 25" day of March 1870 and forwarded to the Commissioner of the Freedmans Bureau Washington D.C. for Bounty due John James late of Comp F 36 U.S. Col Troops, I give you herewith a correct transcript of the 2nd Auditors answer to my inquiry. 

This case was settled March 25/70 and check No 556,219, for $200 sent to the commissioner of the Freedmans Bureau, Washington D.C.
