Mr E L Barthalomew
Dear Sir
We write to you to request you to turn over the claim of the Freedman Bureau on the House finished by them to the Trustees of that house so they may controll the House The names of the Trustees are James Maulding John Hall Alexander Band Thad Phillips George Washington Isaac Smith Madison Gafford George Ware and John Williams, James Maulding is President of the Trustees They have established a good school in the House and called it Wesley Academy. And elected Rev JJ Leach President and Rev J G. Webster and Thomas H Bett Teachers The school was formally taught by Miss Rose Trussell when she left she turned the school over to Rev JG Webster We want the House turned over to us for this reason Mr Nuley and others are trying to have it fixed so that all churches and all kinds of society can meet and hold all kinds of public meetings contrary to the wish of the Trustees and and in this way so can not do any Good as a school All we want is to have control of the House the way it is now every Body says we have just as good a right as the Trustees and they take the key and open the House because they say it belongs to the Freedmens Bureau.
