twisting words I made use of regarding another person (who was owed money for putting up this same building) so as to make it appear I applied the words to him individually, which as God is my Judge I never meant nor intended - but he was afraid of my reporting the circumstance to the General and consequently took the start of me.

I worked so long, and so hard, in the educational interests of the freedpeople that this action of Dr. Americans threatening to stop the school being taught in the building referred to annoyed me very much, and I would respectfully request of you to bring this matter before General Reynolds as it is natural to suppose that the General may receive false impressions injurious to me from the reports of Dr. American.

Please inform me whether you will be able to send a Teacher to this place or not as that is all that is required to get a school going.

I am Sir Very Respectfully
H. Sweeney.
1st. Lieut. 15th Infantry.
