Office Assist. Supt. Education, 2d School Dist.
Galveston, Texas, April 16th, 1869.

Bvt. Capt. C.S. Roberts
A.A.A. Genl.
Austin, Texas:

I have the honor to report that I have a site selected for a school house the cost of which will be $800.00 in Gold. If it is still the intention of the Asst. Comr. to erect a school house in this city for the freedpeople out of funds belonging to the B.R.F. and A.L. as was intimated to me before I left Austin but upon which I received no definite orders or instructions then I would respectfully ask a letter to that effect.

If I have to raise the funds or a portion of them for the purchase of the lot I desire to have something in writing of an authoritative nature to show to those of whom I solicit donations-
