Revd Jos Welch:

My D. friend:

Your favor of the 13th at hand. Do me the favor to send my pay for May here if possible. Also what is due me on a/c actual expenses. I cannot get away without - as I am entirely out of funds. If you can arrange for my May pay - do me the favor to send it. I desire to go north, by a route that will organise it all. Do as you please about Dixie - though - I shall need him to pay a due as I wrote you fulling due in Septr [September]. I am checking out of ready funds except what is due me from the Government.
If you cannot remit my pay let it remain in Wash. & I will collect there
