Lt. Brinkerhoff,

Dear sir:

I drop you a note to request, that in consideration of the free use & occupancy of my land for Good use & benefit, that if you think the Govt will not require it again to return the possession to me, without however any claims on the buildings or lumber you placed there. But if you think best to retain it a while to see if you need it again. I hope you will order the vacation of the Houses by freedmen under a rent contract with Mr. Godden. Mrs Randolph will move then (private house near Barracks) in a week or so and I would not rent the Houses to freedmen & women if you were to give me the improvements= There are I think 4 families there. I repeat again if you think the premises will be needed by Good I have no objection to the improvements staying but otherwise I would be obliged, if you dispose of the Houses & return me the [[untramelled?]]
