The question arises whether I have a right to try the case Davis, has been before trial and awaits action of the next court, Davis is a fugitive at present but I shall be able to arrest him sometime if you think I am qualified for doing so.

Col Wiegel Newbern July 27th

Col. I have the honor to communicate that estimate money required for expenses of this office during the month of July 866 $10" - Received also [[strikethrough]] info  [[/strikethrough]] private information from Jones Co that a negro was killed last week. I have made the proper steps to found [[find]] out all about it but as yet unable to know - the complaint against Daniel Perry of Jones Co forwarded by Capt Dillon thorough [[through]] your office  I was unable to investigate a summon was sent to him to report on the 25" at my office but he failed to do so and I have no soldiers to send after him. Three of them are sick. he lives about 20 miles from here - does not G.O. No 3" take such cases out of our hands? About the 20" a white citizen was killed 3 miles from this place named Odom as alleged by negros  some were arrested  the examination is still pending to found out whether they are guilty of the Charge - I have been very ill for the last 4 days and not able to do any business  as soon as able I shall forward some reports

I have the honor to request information as to what blanks are required and have they made out? in regard to Colored soldier who died in the service and their heirs have bounty and back pay to claim, whether you have extra blanks for it, or the blanks for bounty can be used with the attention or it; does your office tend to clames of loyal N.C.S. - I also forward names of soldiers all belonging to 14 Regt U.S. colored heavy Artillery
