Dear Franklin:

Since I saw you last in New York a few weeks ago, quite a few things have happened in my life. As you can see from the above, I have gone back to my old profession and my old firm, and I can only tell you that I am extremely happy that I made the change.

You are due for a short sojourn in New York which I hope you will soon execute. I promise I shall not take you to "les ex artistes."

Let me know the goings-on in Providence, and if by any chance you could give me a little information about the art loving people in your fair city, I would be extremely grateful to you. As far as I understand there are a number of collectors about whom you, being on the spot, could perhaps give me the best information.

You probably heard of the sale of the magnificent Renoir, "Le Bal" to the Boston Museum. What a superb picture that was!
