Dear Ollie:

Funny things happen sometimes in life. We were talking about stoves and, by accident, I stumbled over a corker yesterday. It is not American, but Bavarian, and unusually attractive. To give you an idea, I was able to obtain a photograph which I am enclosing herewith.

What is even more extraordinary is that I have known this stove all my life, as it was formerly in the house of Mr. Herbert Gutmann, president of the Dresdener Bank of which my step-father was a director.

The stove is at McMillen, Inc., 148 East 55th Street. It is on the second floor hidden behind a screen. Go and look at it because it is much more beautiful than the photograph. In fact, you should go to McMillen anyhow as they have a most beautiful and interesting exhibition of African sculpture lent by Frank Crowninshield which I am sure it will amuse you to see.

Would you kindly also let me know about my round marble table, which I think would be simply magnificent in the big room in Dark Hollow.

In any case I am seeing you and Ben on the 23rd. Meanwhile kindest regards, Cheerio!

As always,

(R.H. Waegen)
