Dear Sir Judah:

I have just returned from a trip out West, and found your letter awaiting me, and have, therefore, wired you this morning that I am answering you by return mail.

Now, I would like to tell you that it is not the rule of our firm to make differences in prices, but, in as much as we are very desirous to do business with you, we would be pleased to make a special reduction in this instance, but the offer which you make us, namely, three thousand dollars, I very much regret to say, we cannot possibly accept, as we could not buy a table such as this in Paris today, for the equivalent of this sum.

Under the circumstances I would be willing to make a very special reduction and put the table in at thirty-four hundred dollars ($3,400.) which is a lower price than I would accept in the ordinary way from anybody in the trade, or even a decorator or architect, as this is practically cost to us.

I would like you to realize that for this price you would be getting more than full value for your money, as it is an absolutely genuine piece of the most refined period of the Eighteenth Century.
