My dear Captain Seligmann:-

I have your kind letter of November first. I am completely "out of the market" as far as acquiring any paintings, but of course I would be glad to meet you, and show you my few paintings if happen to be on hand. In the past year or so the four good ones which I have travel about a good deal, as I never refuse, if I can help it, any requests for loaning them for exhibitions.
Another reasons for not buying additional paintings, is that I have no room in our house---wall space. We have the four works mentioned above and a good many other things:-family portraits by H.L.Hildebrandt, and other paintings which are pleasant & which have been handed down in the family.
I have been interested in BAROQUE, but at present desire no additional paintings of that period, for what I would like I will never be able to afford!
             With Kindest regards, I am
                   Sincerely yours,
                    [signature]

  P.S.
The painters you mention are interesting, but not in my line, even if I were collecting additional paintings.
