New York 22, New York

January 6, 1964

Dear Mr. Lynch-Staunton:

As agreed, it is with much pleasure that I am forwarding you herewith my Firm's income covering your purchases of:

GUARDI, Francesco - Painting - "Man in Oriental Costume" - $9,000
(NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS)

AMAURY-DUVAL - Drawing - "Portrait d'homie en Pied" - $1,500
ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS)

[[sub total]] $10,500

Less special reduction of 10% amounting to: 1,050

[[total]] $ 9,450
(NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS)

The exhaustive pamphlet already in your possession supplements the data indicated on the bill.

In order to allow you ample time to insure these works of art they will remain covered by my Firm up to January 15.

You may be interested to hear that a pencil portrait by CHASSERIAU, I just heard, resembles much the young man limned by AMAURY-DUVAL and this may perhaps lead to a further identification of the sitter.

It was your intention, I know, to come to New York at the beginning of February and if, as I trust, you still intend doing so, may I ask you to be good enough to let me know a few days ahead of time of the dates of your sojourn so that I may advise Mrs. Seligman accordingly.

I was so much looking forward to wishing you a Merry Christmas by telephone and how unfortunate it was that I should have chosen such a bad moment in the day - and if it is too late to renew these now, may I at least express my very best ones for the New Year.

May I ask you to be kind enough to convey my respects to Mrs. Lynch-Staunton and with personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
