WAR DEPARTMENT
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF
WASHINGTON, D.C.

               October 18, 1938.

Dear Seligmann:
Thanks for your gracious note of October seventeenth. I have been Assistant Chief of Staff, head of the War Plans Division since last July, but this last assignment is as Deputy Chief of Staff.

I hope very sincerely that I may have the pleasure of seeing you here in Washington, and I want Mrs. Marshall to meet you and to have you in our home. You and I have a great deal to talk over and I shall thoroughly enjoy seeing you.
I heard the other day that Cochet dropped dead while riding a horse near Besancon.
With warm regards,
Faithfully yours,
[[??]]
G.C. Marshall.
