I believe that upon most of the larger plantations teachers could be employed, and a cabin could be supplied for a schoolhouse- providing teachers could be procured at reasonable hire.* Boarding I am advised can be obtained in the country at from 12 to 15 $ per month- in town at $15 to 20$ per month.
3rd The prejudices of the planters against educating the colored people I think are being removed, and that they are willing to co-operate, believing that their own interests will be promoted thereby. Upon this focus, I would respectfully refer you to my general report of the 24th ultimo.
