Office of Superintendent of Education.
Austin, Texas. April 2d, 1869.

Bvt. Major General O.O. Howard
Commissioner Bureau R.F.&A.L.
Washington D.C.

General:
I have the honor to make application for an appropriation for Two hundred & fifty dollars to repair a school house at Cedar Lake Brazoria County, & inclose herewith a contract to make the same.

The lot is located in the centre of a rich Sugar & Cotton growing District. The people are without any accommodations what ever for school & Church purposes. It was with great difficulty the lot could be procured. An A.M.A. teacher is there, & proposes locating permanently providing a house can be fitted up for teaching. The deed will be forwarded for inspection of the Commissioner as soon as it can be obtained from the Clerks office.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt Servt.
Louis W. Stevenson
Supt. Education
