& is now at the head of that bank in Boston where she earns $45. a week & will come into her fortune her Grand father left her in a year & a half so then she will have plenty of money. young Marden wont need to work then. the family are disgusted with him people say.

Her mother & step father live now in Wellsley. that is where the crowd went yesterday to play cards. & they talked all about her affairs, Mrs Barry said nothing but listened. we have always liked young Marden. he taught night school while they lived in town here but guess there must be something funny in his make up.

I hope you got rid of your company at last so you could go to bed & get warm. we take a stone & Mrs Barry a hot water bottle. I should be cold without my hot stone, it keeps warm all night. beach stones hold the heat a longtime. I have got papers & sofa cushions up to my windows to keep out the cold, my sitting room is the coldest room. there are so many windows that open out of it. today it seems much warmer. they say Bill Skillings goes down south every winter he is in Norfolk Virginia now. we had a post card from him Monday, next he may be in Florida. our neighbor who bought the Bing house is down in Florida now. a good place to go winters I guess. well hope you survive the cold weather
