she is alone a good deal. has a girl come in each day to do the hard work, then gets Franks meals she says, call me up any time, I would like to have you, as I am lonesome here all by myself a lot.

The two bundles came all right. I have opened the one with the nightie & shirt & turned the collar to the shirt. but the bundle with the goods hasn't been opened yet. I greatly enjoyed Madelines letter she writes so interestingly just like talking to her. I can see where in she has the care of the whole family on her shoulders. her mother is very selfish. she has no right to put so much care on her daughter. it now is growing cloudy, hope its moderating. I am sorry you are suffering with such a cold house. a one pipe heater is no good for heating the whole house. lucky you can be away from home so much. I hate the snow. one feels so shut in & it feels so chilly. we have got to have our winter, but it wont last forever. we pity the ones who have to be out in it. I am going to have an oyster stew for my dinner it will taste good. we have got chicken for tomorrow that hasn't gone up. pork is a way up out of site. they say theres [[there's]] plenty of sugar. that's where they are hoarding it. well I will close now & eat my dinner hope you are keeping away from "bombs".
