MILLS COLLEGE ART GALLERY AND DEPARTMENT OF ART MILLS COLLEGE CALIFORNIA March 7, 1939 [[initial]] Dear Mr. Levy: Indeed you have every right to feel upset about the omission of Jacques Seligmann and Company from the list of lenders. This was due to the unusual circumstances which asked for the omission of the name just above yours in the list. The printer made this change in the second proof and by mistake omitted your name also. The material then went immediately to press, because as is usual with catalogues, we were in delay. No one therefore saw the error. Thus the grotesque thing has happened that your name was in the list first and then omitted after we had seen the last proof. I beg to apologize for this mistake which I deeply regret. Your cooperation has been extremely valuable to the College. The Van Gogh drawing belongs to the high lights of the exhibition, which you may see from the fact that we have used it for our title page. With kind regards, Very sincerely yours, [[signature]] Alfred Neumeyer Mr. Robert M. Levy Jacques Seligmann and Company 3 East 51st Street New York
