Dear Dr. Nathan:

It was very pleasant indeed to have seen you and your son the other day and I am sorry that my visit to Zurich being so short I did not have another opportunity of dropping in.

In fact, I would have liked to have been able to examine anew the painting by Courbet which I saw hurriedly. As I am contemplating the purchase of another painting by the same artist here in Paris, I am wondering whether you could send me a good photograph, with dimensions and every information pertaining to it, as well as the very lowest price you would accept. And do send it to the Hotel Ritz where I am. I assume that it is in perfect condition, but I would appreciate your confirmation on this point.

With all good wishes to you and your son,

Sincerely yours,
Germain Seligman
