I can assure you, that teachings were administered during the past two months, to the members of this school. It must be remembered at the same, that it is not within, the teachers province, to secure progress among many pupils in attendance. I have very often, taught the Alphabet to many of the 6 children for a month and then a month of Conception, or an absence of memory, would be plainly manifest. Am unable to qualify the amount of money need as my little payment were made for the part of two month. I have a certain amount of faith in the Freedmen that they will be as good as their words. The majority of the Patrons are widows,

working for a mere trifle. I am always in favor of having women to act as the parents of the schools as the are susceptible of a higher zeal than fathers generally are. Among the scholars there are about ten or twelve capable of writing on paper, but have not the needed accommodations; Therefore on the slates, the practice.
