Mr. Germain Seligman,
Jacques Seligmann & Co. Inc.,
5 East 57th St.,
New York 22, N,Y.

Dear Mr. Seligman:

Thank you for your thoughtful letter of April 30th, and I appreciate Mr. Guy Emerson's mentioning my name to you, for it is possible that we can at least discuss some of the paintings that you have to offer from time to time.

I believe that Miss Amy and Miss Anne Putnam had made some purchases from you in years gone by and I only wish that they had made more, for my observation is that those pictures they bought from you turned out to be very good ones.

If you should have something to offer by El Greco, Franz Hals, Holbein, Velasquez, or any of the great masters, you might send me a photograph for our consideration.

The next time I am in New York I will make it a point to call upon you.

Very truly yours,
