SPENCER PENROSE
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO

April 25, 1940

Mr. O. A. Liechti,
Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc.,
3 East 51st Street,
New York, New York

Dear Mr. Liechti:

I have your letter of April 19th, advising that you have insured Mrs. Penrose's antique secretary with your own Fine Art Policy with Lloyds of London for the sum of $5,000., and that the premium charge will be $6.50. This is satisfactory, and you may either bill me for it or I will take care of it when I take care of the repairs to the secretary.

As I told you, Mrs. Penrose is now in Honolulu and I do not know what to say about your estimate of $75 for the repairs to the secretary, as you do not say just what work is going to be done to it. The price seems a little high, but inasmuch as the work has to be done I suppose it will be satisfactory to Mrs. Penrose, and this will be your authority to proceed with the work, although if you can do so please hold the cost of the work down as much as possible.

You might advise me to what you intend to do to the secretary, for I feel that if you are just going to glue it this will not be of much avail, as it will again crack when it comes back to this very dry climate. Also, please let me know when the secretary can be shipped back to Colorado Springs.

Very truly yours,
