VD 811.111 Pereire, Roger G. I.
June 11th., 1945.

My dear Mr. Coulter:

I am ever so much obliged to you for your letter of June 7th., in connection with my sponsoring Mr. Roger. G. I. Pereire's application re a temporary visit.

From paragraphs 2 and 4 of your letter, I would gather that I am to return to the applicant in Spain, the five additional copies of the form, in order to have him fill them in, and also to answer item 6. In view of the considerable delay which this will entail, would I be allowed to enter on the five additional copies, the data contained on the form which you have just returned to me, and also could I fill in item 6, on behalf of the applicant? Knowing Mr. Roger G. I. Pereire's as I do, as well as his highly conservative background, I would have no hesitanoy in answering "none" to the questions whether he is or has been a communist or anarchist, and the names of "societies and organizations of which the applicant is or has been a member", as he has never had any leaning towards social or political movements.

Should the Department of State's policies not allow my filling in these additional copies of the form and item 6, may I inquire whether, in order to expedite matters, such documents could be relayed to the applicant in Spain through the "pouch"? In the negative, could I cable the applicant to secure the necessary forms from our Consul in Madrid?

May I further inquire whether my understanding of paragraph 3 of the Information Sheet for "Visa Procedure", that in filling the "C" Sponsorship, I may omit the part relating to my financial position and assurance of support, is correct, as the application is only for a temporary visit, and because of the reasons I included in my letter to you of May 14th.

Thanking you in advance for your kind reply,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligman)
