Mrs Bradner used to go up every morning to care for it. she would wash and dress and feed it. we heard she said she loves babies & it was a great pleasure to care for them. all of my family are the same, so I can understand how she feels.

Jackie McGarvey is very miserable he has an asmetic [[sic]] heart & may die young. his father said he was bad. Pete his father is home from the hospital & laid up with a bad leg. he is too ambitious. its a great pity he bought the land across the way.

We find its getting harder to get meat this week. we got some mackerel & that has lasted us two days. we are lucky to get vegetables and beans. also brown bread. guess we can get along on canned stuff for a change & not go hungry. The older I grow the less I seem to care for meat.

Maude seems to care for food she says they live well where she is in the hospital. Many was the time I used to eat down to Doctor Brides hospital & the last time I saw Howard Dykeman, was when Dr Brides took me down to the shore with his assistant, Miss Obrien we stopped there on our way home. he certainly was always good to me. well this is not much of a letter. but the post man may take it when he comes this morning its most time

love Ma
