Col John S. Ashe native of the city of Charleston in the state of South Carolina is now in the seventieth year of his age perfectly blind for over six years and otherwise in bad health-
By the will of this late father he is and for more than twenty years has been owner for life and in possession of the following lands in the State aforesaid, to wit, Wilton and Rotterdam adjoining each other and planted as one containing together about fourteen hundred acres on Edisto River opposite Wiltown Bluff in the parish of St. Batholemew -
Point place commonly called point pleasant or Ashe's Point about four hundred and fifty acres of cotton and provision land on Toogadoo Creek in the Parish of St. Point place commonly called point pleasant or Ashe's Point about four hundred and fifty acres of cotton and provision land on Toogadoo Creek in the Parish of St. Paul - 
Manshill tract about thirteen hundred acres of pine barren near Adams river in the parish of St. Paul
Whooping Island unoccupied and not planted for many years near Edisto Ferry on Dahoo river in the Parish of St John's Colleton -
From there plantations Col. Ashe against his will and remonstrance was with his people driven by Military Authority.
He now desires to release to occupy and cultivate these lands with his former slaves now freed with whom he has already made arrangements and most of whom have already returned to their former home. 
Col. Ashe is not included in either of the exceptions to the Amnesty proclamation of President Johnson
