Dear Mrs. Quinn,

I am taking the liberty of herewith enclosing you a photograph of the portrait by ROMNEY, as I thought perhaps you might like to show it to Mr. Quinn. Of course, the photograph does not show the remarkable and exquisite color of this portrait, but nevertheless, I thought Mr. Quinn might be interested to see it. You will note from the description on the back that it has a most wonderful record as besides being mentioned in Ward & Roberts' book, it was also shown at two famous exhibitions in England, one being at the British Institution in 1866, and the other at the South Kensington Museum in the following year.

As I told you, our asking price for this picture is $35,000., but if you are really interested in it, we would be willing to accept $25,000. cash and take your LAWRENCE man as part payment of the balance.

Now, I can assure you that this picture for a man's portrait is equally as fine as the LAWRENCE woman you brought from us, but as you know, women's portraits are generally worth double the price of a man's portrait, even if they are no better in quality. It is, undoubtedly, one of the finest man's portrait by ROMNEY I have ever seen, and is in a perfect state of preservation
