915 THE ROYAL BANK BUILDING
MONTREAL

February 1st, 1939.

My dear Bob,

I was glad to hear from you and hope that you and your wife are doing well.

With regard to my drawings, I may say that I have the larger part of them and those which I like best here in Montreal. Schaeffer still has a smaller number of them and I may also bring them back with me to Montreal on the occasion of one of my trips to New York. I am not very keen on selling any of them but for some of which I am not particularly fond, I might be willing to accept an interesting offer, although I do not want any efforts made in this connection.

Concerning the Leonardo Exhibition, I should have been very glad to lend my drawing but really feel that in the case of Italy I have no particular reason for making an effort to render this country a service. Besides, I am still of Germain nationality and would not even have any protection if those fellows were to refuse to send the drawing back to me.

I admit that in Italy there might still be left some equal rights for all, but I do not know just how far this goes, and although I should have liked to oblige Dr. Valentiner, I am sorry to say that I prefer to keep my "Bear" here.

I hope to see you soon in New York and, in the meantime, with kindest regards to Helen and yourself in which my wife joins me,

Sincerely yours,

Ludwig Rosenthal
