Dear Colonel Ruppert,

We have just acquired two extremely important 18th century English portraits which we would like to have the pleasure of showing you. One is the famous portrait of Comte de Chamcenetz by GAINSBOROUGH which comes from the celebrated Sackville Collection at Knole, and the other is the portrait of Richard Cumberland, the dramatist, by ROMNEY.

Both of these pictures are now in our galleries, and we should be very pleased to show them to you at any time you could conveniently call.

Very truly yours,

JACQUES SELIGMANN & CO., Inc.,

(Clyfford Trevor)
