Dear Mr. Saisselin;

Though we have not corresponded with each other for quite a while, I do hope that these lines will find you in good health enjoying your professorship at the Rochester University.

It is in connection with the topic we discussed so often, "Rococo", that I am writing. At long last I have finished an article, but of course, whether it will ever be published is another matter. And this all the more, that to my great surprise, I have found several art historians of merit who seem particularly keen about using this [[strikethrough]] impression [[/strikethrough]] term.

I could not, of course, have undertaken such a task without mentioning you, and I am thus asking for your permission to quote from the reprint you had been so kind as to forward.,- "The Rococo Muddle" in "Studies on Voltaire and the 18th Century". The quotation would extend from page 244 to the top of page 245.

It is also in fine that I intend inserting your writing, for it is so very eloquent and contains so much of the material discussed earlier in my article.

Trusting I may hear from you in the not too distant future, and looking forward to your good news,

With best greetings,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
