Dear Gilbert,

How good of you to have so very promptly forwarded a copy of Rheims' book. I have had little time yet to read much of it, however, the one character it discloses is how very Parisian it is.

But never-the-less, I should add that I am disappointed with the Hotel des Ventes spirit - too many "ragots" - that is, too many figures and dealers' comments.

You promised me to let me know what the purchase cost, as well as the shipping ones amount to. Do let me have these, for otherwise I will have to do guesswork.

This last good deed of yours encourages me to ask for another favor... It is to be so good as to send me three or four small boxes of LACTOBYL, a very light laxative (black pastilles). They were available a short time ago in every drugstore in France, without the need of a prescription, but seem to be unknown here.

Reverting anew to the Rheims book, I duly turned over to Theresa Parker the impressive stamps you had so carefully chosen for her, and needless to say, she is most appreciative of your kind thought of her.

We were happy to listen to the good news imparted by Mona about the family. She enjoyed, of course, seeing you all, including the four boys. Bertrand, as you know, is much on my mind, and when you will have an opportunity to do so, do let me hear how he is doing.

With renewed thanks for your kindness, and with affectionate thoughts to you both,

Yours,

Germain Seligman
