ATA AIRPORT AFFAIRS MEMORANDUM NO. 67-33

To: Airport Affairs Committee Mailing List

Subject: Establishment of Airline Forecasting Working Group and Work Program
______________________________________________

Attachment "A" to this memorandum gives the chronology of events which caused the subject group to be established. Its purpose is to obtain an historical data base beginning now (no retroactive data collection) for effective future forecasting in order to more realistically enable the airlines, and the FAA to determine airport requirements and to do proper airport planning. It is felt that the effort to compatible with the Mathematica Forecast Methodology Program in that the common data base developed by this working group might be used at a later date to improve the Mathematica methodology.

At its meeting on November 1st, the Airport Facilities Advisory Committee approved the establishment of the Working Group and authorized it to formulate methods of data collection and dissemination. The first order of business for the Working Group is to have the ATA Airport Affairs Committee discuss the proposed reporting format for data collection with their respective management and recommend changes keeping in mind both the need for this program and the associated data collection problems. The airport data requirements format proposed by the Working Group are shown as Attachment "B" to this memorandum. Your comments on this format are requested on or before January 3, 1968.
