Another SAE Committee, A-21 "Aircraft Exterior Noise Measurement" has been engaged in the development of an acceptable acoustical measurement for aircraft noise, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Frank Kolk, Assistant Vice President - Engineering and Development, American Airlines. It has made significant progress in the formulation of an authoritative measurement procedure. Both of the SAE Committees have provided input for industry and government noise programs.

Many of the industry aviation authorities and noise experts from the National Aircraft Noise Abatement Council "Operations Research Program", which has now been assumed by SAE, have also served as expert advisors to the United States Government in the "Ad Hoc Jet Aircraft Noise Panel" established by the Office of Science and Technology, in the Executive Office of the President of the United States, which produced the previously cited Report, "Alleviation of Jet Aircraft Noise Near Airports". 24/
