of commercial helicopter aviation. (1) Finally his dream was realized, and New York Airways was incorporated in the state of Delaware. On September 6, 1949 New York Airways filed its application to give service to the New York area. On the same date, three other interested companies also filled. They were Air Commuting, Metropolitan Aviation Corporation, and New York Helicopter Corporation. The applicants requested the issuance of a certificate of "public convenience and necessity" authorizing helicopter transport in the New York area and/or any other routes claimed desirable by the Civil Aeronautics Board. 
     
Ten days later, the Examiner's Report was issued establishing dates of exhibition and requesting consolidation of all applicants,. This was done and presented in a case called "New York City Area Helicopter Service Case."

John Senior enlisted the aid of Glenn Eastburn, whom had been very active in Los Angeles and with the aid of others, much extensive research was made into the possibilities of helicopter service for the New York area. [[strikethrough]] A survey was made and the men investigated [[/strikethrough]] Thirty-six communities were investigated to determine (1) Potential air mail volume (2) Availability of landing areas (3) the attitude of the various city officials and (4) the attitude of the mail users as brought out by the Chamber of Commerce and other such business groups.
