2.3.10 FOREMAN - AIRCRAFT SERVICES

Basic Function:

To accomplish, consistant with New York Airways' program of preventive maintenance, in an efficient, economical and safe manner the maintenance and repair of helicopters (including the engine installations) for ultimate assignment to Flight Operations. These functions encompass; periodic aircraft and engine services; the removal, installation and/or inspection of aircraft and engines and their components on a time-limit basis; the correction of Pilot log items, indicating conditions of mechanical or aerodynamic malfunctioning; the correction of items, uncovered during the periodic inspections conducted by the Inspection Department and recorded on worksheets; the execution of special projects ordinarily covered by Engineering Authorizations or Test Orders.

Responsibilities:

1. To perform scheduled and periodic aircraft and engine maintenance services.
2. To correct items reported by Pilots and the Inspection Departments as recorded on forms provided for that purpose.
3. To remove and install engine power packages, control surfaces, gear boxes, radio, electrical and instrument equipment, landing gear and other related equipment.
4. To rig, test and adjust helicopter and engine installations and systems.
5. To accomplish the repair of non-removable components, structures, and sheet metal on the helicopter.
6. To accomplish the repair and modifications of certain removable aircraft components, such as engine mounts, cowling, exhaust collector rings, cylinder baffles, ducts, scoops, oil tanks and heat exchanger metal components.
7. To accomplish the manufacture of all parts involving sheet metal and welding work.
8. To accomplish the removal and reinstallation of cabin furnishings, painting of interior and exterior and overhauling and refinishing of cabin and cockpit interiors.
9. To accomplish the cleaning and polishing of the helicopter during the designated services.
10. To accomplish the installation of projects scheduled to be performed during certain periodic services.
11. To run-up helicopters, as required, in order to determine the proper functioning of the helicopter and engine systems and controls prior to delivery of aircraft to Flight Operations.
12. To see that man-power is properly assigned to handle problems of parts and material availability in order to maintain shop schedules.
13. To assist in the maintenance of complete and adequate personnel records as required.
14. To cooperate with and assist other shops in development of work procedures, inventory control, and other factors as required for an efficient overall operation of the maintenance base and helicopter fleet.
