Office of Budget

The basic functions of the Office of Budget are to assist the Administrator in preparing the FAA budget for Congress and then to supervise the allocation and spending of appropriations.

Office of Personnel and Training

This office is headed by an Assistant Administrator. It has a total staff of 1,455, of which 473 are in Personnel Management. The remaining 982 are responsible for the training of Agency personnel. The Fiscal 1963 budget of this office was approximately $16 million.

The training breaks down into four major categories; Air Traffic, Air Navigation Facilities, Flight Standards Management/General Training, and Training Development. The training involved in these categories consists of more than 233 courses.

Office of Compliance and Security

This office is headed by a director and its basic responsibility is for the security of FAA information and property and assurance that all FAA personnel are within the bounds of ethical and trustworthy conduct at all times. It serves as the FAA liaison with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency.

The Aeronautical Center - Oklahoma City

The Aeronautical Center is a major FAA installation which houses the activities of several of the Offices and Services of the Agency. The following major FAA facilities are located there:

-- The Civil Aeronautics Research Institute (CARI) which is the center of aviation medicine research and development activity.

-- The FAA Academy which is the school conducted by the Office of Personnel and Training and the various services for the training of Agency personnel in such things as air traffic
