Office of the Bureau of Refugees Freedmen &c for  Robeson Co & Lumberton Aug 24th, 1865

This indenture made and entered into this 24th day of August 1865 between R. B. Gregory of Robeson Co of the one part and Benjamin Benny for himself and family and for Nancy his stepdaughter and her four children, George Gilchrist and his wife Sarah, Nelson Moore for his wife Maria and two children and Robert Gregory freedmen and women of the other part witnesseth that for the following consideration paid by the said R. B. Gregory to the aforesaid freedmen and women respectively - with food and lodging until the first day of November, to wit to Benjamin Benny and his family including the family of his stepdaughter Nancy ten Bushels of corn, to George and his wife twelve bushels of corn to Maria and the children wife of Nelson Moore food and clothing and ordinary medical attendance, to Robert five bushels of corn, then the aforesaid freedmen and women hereby agree severally for themselves and their children to obey with respect all the lawful commands of the said R. B. Gregory during the time that they may remain on his plantation. The aforesaid freedmen and women do further agree to accept voluntarily the above consideration for their services from April to November 1865 over
